Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies) are a group of rare, systemic autoimmune diseases characterized by chronic muscle inflammation. Clinically they share symptoms like progressive decrease of strength and muscular endurance. The most common clinical forms are polymyositis, dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis. The intervention of physical medicine and rehabilitation are the prevention of complications, the optimization of function, the promotion of autonomy and the improvement of the quality of life. Physical exercise may be a part of a rehabilitation program for these patients. With this work we want to demonstrate the impact of physical exercise on the treatment of patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, specifying their peculiarities in this field.
